Water
water everywhere
Not
a drop on its wing
Golden
dodo soars high
In
dark gray sky
Worry
not give time
Damp
patch to dry
On
the ceiling
And
on the lung
May
it sound funny, honey
But
what really matters
Is
money

It DOES sound funny! Why should we exchange little bits of paper, hard to obtain, for what we need? The exchange is between items not similar at all.
ReplyDeleteThat's the irony of our time or of all times heightened in our time:(
DeleteThank you Susan:)
LOL - lovely biting tone!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the satire and sarcasm:) Thank you Pat:)
DeleteNice one Amit
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday
Much💛love
Thank you Gillena:)
DeleteTo you too!
Love..
Does the poet really believe the ending of the poem? Just curious...
ReplyDeleteI don't think poets have to believe what they write or even tell the truth for that matter, e.g. dodos couldn't fly as they had no need living on an island with no predators until we came along, but by then it was too late to learn. Bye bye dodo!
Delete@MMT: No, he doesn't! It's a satire as has been said earlier. Thank you for reading:)
Delete@Robin: That dodos were anatomically unable to fly is a known fact but this a 'Golden' one soars high figuratively and the sarcastic end justifies its flight.. Thank you sir for your interest in my work:)
Made me smile.......and sigh.
ReplyDeleteAww..I'm so happy and obliged:) This is the best reaction my poem has earned so far! A big thank you Sherry:):)
DeleteHa! Such an amusing take on all the fuss accorded to this thing called money. I like this kind of sarcasm, doling out extreme premises with a self-indulgent humor. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I tried to weave in pathos and humor with a dash of sarcasm here..thank you Anmol for liking it:) Glad!
ReplyDeleteLove the poem, and glad you included the dodo picture.
