Crestfallen...

                                               That unsaid something
Which used to be
Light as thought
Warm as energy
Happy as hope
Fragrant as earth
Swift as sky
And pretty as smile,

Is today ugly as plastic
False as achievement and structured hymen
Temporary as success and Viagra
Cold as amber and stares
Stinking as corpse and life
Obscene as riches and pointed bra
Ridiculous as flavored condom and fairness cream.

Doesn't matter.
Live on...
Change only is permanent!

    loved these lines

Is it a poem or a comment, yes today is as ugly and false. It's great work must say.
Thanks for letting me know this on my blog itself

    1. Thank you Brad for appreciating the perspective.
I've used some bold imagery in this poem, unlike my generally soft and subdued tones, to symbolize the sharp contrast, without marring the delicacy of a poem. The positive comments by Sylvia, Latha and you do testify that my effort has not been in vain, the effect has been accentuated, and the offbeat images have NOT rendered coarseness to the poem! Thanks again!

  14. Very true. The similes are very apt and a stark view of the norms pervading us.
