Nice monochrome...somehow, I feel that the architecture of the church is not purely conventional like other churches that we see around us. Though this has the tall tapering towers with crosses, the top has a slight resemblance to a Gumbaz as in Islamic architecture. Also the base has huge pillars, like in white houes which is so very unconventional. Glad to know a bit about the Basilica.
Your general knowledge, observation and common sense amaze me to no end, Sunita, if architecture is NOT your field. I'm highly impressed!This church was built by a Muslim lady Begum Samru in the memory of her Christian English husband..although it does house Italian/Roman sculpture and Belgian glasswork, the facade is bound to have the Islamic impact due to Muslim artisans involved in its making..Thank you for liking the photo:)
