Chutzpah?

nay...not the least!
In fact, dear blogger friends, while I’m so grateful to all the kind souls who considered me worthy of these wonderful awards, I’m on the other hand ashamed of my incapability of receiving any of them in the right way.

I was on cloud nine when I received my first one about this time last year, and started working on the obligations right away. But I soon felt a stress building up on finding there was no answers to some questions asked by the giver or I did not want to reply to some others...which in turn posed a bigger problem when I understood that the friends nominated by me might find themselves in the same fix!

Within a couple of weeks I received many more, adding to my predicament of fulfilling the riders.
I also faced a traumatic dilemma of who to give and who to leave, for there were lots who I wanted to give away to but there always was a restricting number of prospective receivers.
And then they were like pouring down...there was one or two every third day! Ego fanning it definitely was but a realization soon came as a price: I couldn’t cope with the fact that I have received so many of them so many times, and the blogs I adored most had none! It was like savoring delicacies with deprived friends around.  Adorning my blog with awards and seeing those I loved without any was an excruciating pain, resulting into my failure of being game!

As if all this was not enough, I noticed some awardees mentioning the number of times they received it beside an award, which somewhat appeared as an obscene display of superiority, and at this point I decided (although I had accumulated a dozen by then) to steer clear of this quandary, and excused myself by deleting all the homework I had done to properly accept and nominate for my awards.
As I have received more than 20 in last one year, and still regularly get nominated by nice friends I believe it is my duty to tell you all the facts behind my having not continued the chain and my reasons of sitting on the favours bestowed upon me. I have so many wonderful blogger buddies and lovable blogs around that I just can’t pick and choose.

Your kind visits and lovely comments are my awards and rewards, and I value YOU more than anything else. Your loving support motivates and encourages me always, and I hope you will continue being with me at all times!
Warm regards and hugs J
-Amit/Safarnaamaa

PS: My sincere apologies to generous friends who gave me these awards, but I couldn't accept  them!

    1. Slow and steady...it was because I love to create and blog, not to win any race as the gospel says.
I hate competition of any kind...it's a sickness!

  6. i wrote an award post when i just started blogging because i was delighted to receive couple of awards and i wanted to share the joy with others. however, with time i realized that one cannot be 100% honest while giving these awards and hence i stopped. i wouldn't mind writing posts about my favorite bloggers from various genres though or some of the posts I loved most (i have already done that once).

but i would like to tell you something. you deserve all the awards you get.

  7. I completely agree with you, Amit, and I made the same decision nearly three years ago! The ones I received when I first started blogging were fun and made me feel really good, but then there were just too many and I felt the quality of my blog was falling short in an attempt to respond to them all. Your awards are indeed well deserved though!!! Hope your week is going well!

    1. I never displayed any awards on my blog without fulfilling the pre-requisites to save myself from a feeling of dishonesty...however I sure was carrying some guilt that I failed to come up to the expectations of all those lovely friends who gave me the awards.
And now with this confessing post I definitely feel lighter!
Thank you for your kind understanding, Sindhu:)

  17. Amitji, you have aptly said. The best award for a blogger is the visit by his blogger friends and its a bigger honor for receiving comments on his posts. That love and friendship is more than any award.

  19. Amit Sir, for a blogger of your calibre and repute, I am sure awards like these do not mean as much as for those who are just starting out and feel encouraged by appreciation from fellow bloggers.

That said, you are quite correct in saying that after a point in time, saying that you've received an award N number of times reduces its significance, particularly if it has been given by someone who is not a regular reader of your blog, or does not genuinely follow your posting.

Your humility shines through your words, Sir, as it is quite clear that you are happier when people read your posts or see your pictures and share their thoughts with you, even though you are aware of the appreciation and adulation you've received and more than deserve all the accolades that you get.

There is a lot to learn from you, Sir :)

But I will not desist from congratulating you on your numerous well-deserved awards.

    1. So true, Meenakshi! I couldn't agree more!
I only dared to express my feelings and views without any supporting arguments in my favor. Definitely there are friends who like them and the riders, and I genuinely wish them a perplexing number:):)
My best wishes that they receive them to their heart's content.
Thanks a lot for voicing a different thought, I honor your views, Meenakshi:):)
PS:..and there's nothing to learn FROM me, as I am learning myself! Let's learn together:):)

  22. Ah! Amit! All the awards and more are richly deserved by you.

I am of the ilk who does post award posts regularly - as you mus be aware. I see the awards as more a gesture of affection than of the quality of my blog. I receive and pass on the awards - at the cost of perhaps alienating friends - but I try to pass it on the people who are not known to my own circles. After all, good blogs deserve to be advertised and this is my small way of introducing new bloggers to my own circle.

That said, I do respect your own decision. I am currently struggling to write an award post - it does take a lot out of you :) and, yes, it could seem like you are boasting of your accomplishments even when you are not inclined to do so.

  23. Amit, I hate to be critical, but let me tell you- these awards are helpful for the newbies--or, for bloggers who have less than 100 followers! Maybe, for popular bloggers... these Oscars make no sense. However, for me, motivation doesn't come easily...so, I love these laurels!!:)))
Congrats on your Blog awards. No surprise to me. As an admirer of your blogs, I obviously see a lot of potential and enjoy the quality of your writing. Hope you don't mind.
Aah, now I know why I didn't see your comment on my 'award' blog :P

...and I'm terribly sorry for having missed your award post inadvertently or due to my absence!
Otherwise I always congratulate the receivers:):)
